mwz: Day 86

This morning I swam 31 laps (33 laps is 3/4 mile). I could have easily made the 33 laps (I was even considering going beyond that) but I felt a twinge of something in my abdomen.

I decided to not risk further injury.

Yesterday, (Monday) I ran for the first time in a long time. I only went a mile because I didn't want to over do it and because I'm lazy.

My legs were still sore today.

mwz: Day 83

Spin today. It was a fine 45 minute class. My foot didn't fall asleep or cramp at all. That was good.

mwz: Day 81

Today was my last swim lesson. I pretty much just swam the whole time. I'm glad I took the lessons, even though I mostly just swam on my own. I learned a quite a bit.

I swam 3/4 mile in 40 minutes, which is a little faster than last time.

mwz: Day 80

I did the spin class this morning. It wasn't too bad. I was worried that I'd be really out of shape but I wasn't.

At the 45 minute mark, I noticed that my toes had fallen asleep. I loosened that toe strap a bit and then they were all tingly. That was strange.

I also used the weights a bit on my legs.

mwz: Day 78

This morning I swam a bit. I stopped after 18 laps (22 is a half mile). I just wasn't feeling it this morning and my foot was bothering me. I think it was just tired. I'm going to have to strengthen the muscle that bends the foot at the ankle.

mwz: Day 67

I didn't get a whole lot of sleep last night, Frances has a cold. So, I skipped the morning swim.

But I made up for it this evening at my lessons. There were only two of us there (and the other one just kinda hangs out with the life guards). That meant that I could swim full laps (since there weren't people learning in the shallow end).

I wish I would have kept count of my laps because I'm sure that was the farthest I have ever swam. I went for pretty much 45 minutes (occasionally stopping to catch my breath). I alternated between the crawl and the breast stroke. Basically, when my crawl form would break down because I was tired, I would do the breast stroke. I only did about one and a half laps on my back.

I got some good pointers about my breast stroke (basically, I was still doing it wrong but wrong in a better way). And I asked about how much I was supposed to be rotating during the crawl. I concentrated on not crossing my arms in the crawl (as Mrk mentioned to me on the phone) and that helped a lot.

I really felt like those two strokes started to click in place. That's pretty encouraging.

mwz: Day 65

(posted late)

Yesterday, I finally got to swim. I did 14 laps (11 laps is a quarter mile) because it was my first time out for a while and I wanted to ease into it. Plus once I thought of that, I couldn't convince my body to go any further.

I started the weird hip exercises. They are weird.
